You Want to Be Watched? Well We Are Now.
Wear the pins, the boutonnieres,
pretend like the person sitting next to you
hasn't profitted off working for a man
who told women he'd make their careers
if they just touched him, and then maybe more.
Wear all black, but cover it up in diamonds,
because if you can distract them enough,
shine the light into their eyes until you blind them,
they'll eventually stop seeing the truth
and they'll stop asking questions.
Praise the woman who speaks out
but don't give her the airtime,
because you know that you don't want
your show to be overtaken by the message
and alienate the part of the audience
who still wants to touch women without their permission.
Praise the movement for bringing women to the forefront,
but tell them it's the own fault
for not being recognized for their work
and remind them that the doors are open
if they're willing to work more to walk through them.
Pretend to do better and then hope people will eventually stop watching.
