Your Graduation

It was one of those moments that I'd never forget

Excitement buzzed between everyone that night

You were a new high school graduate

We sat in your car to go to your graduation party

I had always sat in the passenger seat

and that night when i turned to look at you

As you softly sang along to the Black Keys

I felt alive and truly happy

It felt like it was only me and you in the world

I couldn't imagine a life without you beside me in that little red car

But now i live outside of it while you continue to sing softly

With someone else in the passenger seat.
