Poems from Briana Michelle McDoniel
To her
He is the blinds that let in the light
To him
She is the stars that shine so bright
To her
He is the sheets that keep her warm...
Hush now, don’t cry
The streets are cold
You’re growing old
With no food for the night
No blanket wrapped around you tight
You’re giving...
You are your own worst enemy
You act like your in ecstasy
But you’re not
What I’m trying to say
Is you’ve come so far
You carry many scars...
Dear World,
What is happening to you
All the horrible things people do
It’s been a lot to go through
What I’m trying to say
Is our world...
This is me
Half Black
Half White
In a society that doesn't take that into account
A society that sees me and assumes
I am fully Black...
