Hello, my name is Laura. I am a descendant of many things such as Scottish, Irish, Swiss-German, and Lakota Sioux from North Dakota Nations. I write here to express how I feel upon such things, because here in the city of Detroit a rapper, Eminem, had inspired me. In my future I wish to do a lot of things, but that can only mean one thing and that's school. I wish to go to college to become a Dental Hygienist, to make money for my future to happen with all my dedication and hard work. I love my family, but we're not very close including my father who abandoned me and my mother. In my child hood it was very rough to live with a single mother, who didn't make as much as two incomes would add up too. My father originally was born in Glasgow, Scotland. However, because of the many years of felonies we've charged against him he was deported back. In my child hood I was by my self, I had to learn how to self manage while my mother worked for nine hours only making fifteen an hour. But that didn't stop me, because of who I become learning from my mother. I have learned to go for things and strive for the most challenging things of life. Life isn't always about true love and money, however we sometimes choose it to be that way. It is all about what you make life, if you choose to make things right your goals will succeed. I am a some what a sufficient student at Wayne High, and will be graduating may 31, 2014 (Go '14!) I am also happy to pronounce that I will be graduating with honors, from having a GPA accumulation of a 3.16. I will be going to Baker college, to become what I desire the most which is becoming a Dental Hygienist. The hardships of going to school would be, having to pay so much for college. In the town I live in, there aren't many upper class men here. The neighborhoods that surround us are a lot of middle class or lower class. I am middle class, but not at its highest point most likely a little under the middle point of middle class. I plan on hoping to get grants and scholarships to pay for classes, because those are going to help me step up more to my future. I can some what pay a little bit, but the rest of tuition I would like to be paid by scholarships. My mother as much as she wishes she could, can not afford to support me on my tuition. I wish it was the situation to where she's just doing it to help me learn responsibility, however that is sadly not the case. I am proud of my mom for what she has done for me, and I wish to do the same to show her I'l be ok on my own ready to grow up. While thinking of college and wanting to work in the medical field. I thought I could volunteer to get some social experience of different responsibilities such as babysitting, working at the MJR movie theater, and volunteering at Seasons Hospice, Auburn Hills, MI. I also joined a Medical Assisting program of the career building in Henry Ford Career Technical Center in Westland, MI. I would like to thank the Henry Ford Program, helping me to experience a resemblance of what it's like working in the field. Training me for many months and being certified, has made me really proud. Especially where in the program during March, the class mates and I have competed in a competition called HOSA. In the competition I proudly won second place in Medical Photography, and was able to compete in states in Traverse City, MI. This competition took a lot of patience, time, and dedication in order to compete and win.
