This nation is closing in  The borders are suffocating The immigrants have to leave But, why?  Isn't this the land of the free? These people just want to breathe. So open the gates

The sun sets on another American day. Discontent dots the landscape: The land of aimless protestors and impassionate activists. More cries for change, more cries of sorrow.

Fast we held, now fast we fall The eagle drops into a crawl, And yet we still wander on. Meandering mindlessly Into the fog.

From the moment you came here To establish a great nation You came uninvited You erased the natives of this land And brought a people out of their own free will You say this is the land of the free
 America the great? No this is america full of hate I just wanna take a step back Back before we acted like we did when wars were called great Back when love won
For the land of the free, there sure is a lot of bondage and incarceration imbalance. You can only go to jail if you're not a straight, conservative, wealthy, white male.
America the great? Some say so, others say no. While life has improved for some Many have had their lives worsened   Less are in college And we’re supposed to be an educated country?
Let US be brave When speaking of America I often here the phrases that decribe unity We are one, We are together, We are the protectors  But things are not as true as they seem.
"America the Great," we once were called the world stared at us with hope and amazement  wondering; waiting; they thought we might be a change to the world  for the better they read our documents, 
My father is a patriotic man A gun carrying, flag flying, free-spoken man He always taught me to never let my colors run, to stand my ground, and to live loudly
I look out on a gushing Ocean, Of foaming white waves with dark black crests, Dilapidating the wind with it’s crushing,
Broad stripes, what our soldiers bleed. Bright stars, what our children see.   The youth watch fiction and fantasy,
I used to think America was great, But now, not so much. We were never the land that we prided ourselves on for being found on the foundation of “Liberty and Justice for all”
Republican or Democrat white or Black Trump or Obama Man or Woman Gay or Straight Christian or Muslim... one of America's biggest failure is separation we have grown to hate each other
This is my home, yes, people often jest. Poking fun at our best, We are ever changing, not always for better That fact there is why I chose to write a letter. To our new president or "leader" if you will
Built on the back of genocide, slaves, and rape America was never great in the first place She stole, she ravaged, she plundered, she killed She forgot, she wronged, she lied But now she is starting to heal  
I was built up like The great wall of china I am strong, powerful, impenetrable, Fortified heavily until nothing can hurt me. But like the great wall of china, I am a barrier between realms
America the Brave America the tarnished Amerca the ignorant America the lost Lost. Fight for freedom? Fight for equality? Fight for Love?
"Make America Great Again" For who? The rich, white, Christian men? The promise that made some cheer and others fear,  for they knew their lives could be left in the hands of someone who didn't care.
Let me tell you what's happening from sea to shining sea.   "Wetbacks" "Terrorists" "Niggas" "Bitches" "Gays"  
Why do we sing this song? What does it mean? Were the slaves even free in 1916? When Woodrow Wilson would sing “No refuge could save the hireling and slave” Why did they fight when they were treated this way?
