Dont hurry spring
the wind still trembles
in the empty trees
ant dead geraniums stand still
in spanish harlem window boxes.
Another week perhaps
when skaters leave the pond.
If the eyes are the window to the soul,
One might think these are only slightly ajar.
Though the gust cuts through the shallow opening,
It’s your intensity that captures the moment.
My mom tells me to stop
Stop caring about him
Stop letting him know that he hurt me
That I’m breaking inside because of him
Because that is what is fueling him
