My coach is someone who cares
Someone who works hard, despite his gray hairs
During the tough times or the relaxed days
I always strive to hear his praise
The praise of a coach is not easily earned
A six minute mile,
feet hardly touching the ground.
Nothing else matters,
My standing backflip
seems to defy gravity.
I spin right around.
Only five more reps.
My teammates and I inhale the fragrance of cross-country: freshly-mown grass accompanied by a gentle, humid breeze.
ask any of us and we'll say it's hell
to run and run and run until our feet swell
sweaty tired faces and sore legs too
running 10 miles is a daily thing to do
(Part 1)
Is it not the gym?
That makes me sweat and pant?
That allows ‘fit’ children to run round it
When obviously I can’t?
Is it not the gym?
That intimidates me so
So you're thinking about running
And it's less about the outcome,
the hardened muscles and lean body,
And more about the feel of wind
Rushing through your hair
Feeling the elements
As they pass
I exercise daily
I feel amazing
I have cravings
I choose raisins
I need to lose weight
Or it might be too late
I hold my fate
Out on the streets, I run by many things
I run by the cars in their rush
By jagged cracks in the concrete
By hills of strength and downhills of bliss
My feet propel me foward
Some people ride their bikes for fun, others in a race
Others, so that they can lose their friend around their waist
Many people own bicycles, all around the nation
Football is a game that I’ve tried
The only game where I almost died
The incident happened last season in fall
That’s when I decided to quit football
Run.
Go forward,
Trust your legs.
Are they pillars or twigs?
Faster.
Like Hell.
Towards The Destination.
Times’ scythe nips at your heels.
Recover.
At this moment, I am inventing the dinosaur; creating toast; conceiving an end to a circle. Against reason, I am endeavoring to produce something beautiful from the dregs of humanity.
Exercise is good for you,
Blood, sweat, and tears,
will get you through the deepest blue
and fit throughout the years,
you may not like it at the start
but then you get addicted,
Don't listen to what anyone tries to say
You look beautiful no matter how much you weigh
But if you'd like to look better some day
Go outside, run, exercise and play
A heartbeat accelerates, blood coursing
through protruding veins of scarlet and blue.
Harder and harder to push oneself through
indescribable pain, often forcing
legs to keep moving; the mind divorcing
