Originality is not common in human nature
Not every group has unique nomenclature
There are troops of mongoose and baboons
If I had a nickel for every embarrassing or ridiculous situation that I somehow squeezed myself into I would definitely have a few nickels. A good example would be my class trip to Washington DC when I was a junior in high school.
I am
A woman
Belittled
Degraded
Insignificant
The consequences of my
Gender
I watch white
wealthy
middle-aged
men
in stiff suits
pick and chose
Who are you to represent me?
You don't understand me.
You don't know me.
Who are you to say you've best intention?
You don't understand what's best.
You don't know what's best.
Those who selfishly indulged in bailoutsInstead of going bankrupt,Who refurnished their lavish offices,Bought new gas guzzling cars andExpensive second homes with theirTax breaks and bonuses,
Protected saplings;
Symbols of what Anne Frank viewed for years.
Her entries foretold what America would cherish,
And gift to seven of the nine discriminated students
Of Little Rock Nine.
