Welcome to Power Poetry. These terms are the agreement between you and Power Poetry, Inc. when you use our site. We've tried to keep them short and readable — because you should actually read them.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that your parent or guardian has reviewed these terms and our Privacy Policy with you. By creating an account, you confirm you meet these requirements.
You're responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your password safe. Don't share your login. If you think someone else has accessed your account, email us right away. You can delete your account at any time.
You keep the copyright to every poem you publish on Power Poetry. By posting a poem, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, and share it as part of running the site — including in slams, anthologies, the Emerging Poets Collection books, and promotional material about Power Poetry. If someone outside of Power Poetry requests to use your work in any capacity — such as at a poetry reading, for a school project, in a published text, etc. — we'll let you know first.
You can delete your poems from Power Poetry at any time. Once you do, we'll stop displaying them, though archived or cached copies may exist for a period of time.
We have the right to remove content, hide comments, or suspend accounts that violate these terms. We don't love doing it — we'd rather talk it out — but we'll do it to keep the community safe, especially for younger poets.
Power Poetry uses AI to power the Poetry Genome, feedback chatbot, and recommendations. These tools are experimental, sometimes wrong, and never meant to replace your own voice. Don't rely on AI analysis as the final word on your poem — it's a conversation, not a verdict.
Some slams have specific rules, prizes, and eligibility requirements. Those rules live on each slam page and apply on top of these terms. Winning a slam doesn't transfer ownership of your poem to us — it just means we may include it in our annual anthology, which is always free to read.
Power Poetry links to other websites (like Amazon for our books, or poets' own social media). We're not responsible for what's on those sites.
Power Poetry is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it running, secure, and useful, but we can't guarantee it will always be available, bug-free, or meet every need. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages from your use of the site.
We may update these terms as the site grows. When we do, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, email you. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States.
