Kaveh Akbar was born in Tehran, Iran on January 15, 1989. He earned an MFA from Butler University and a PhD in creative writing from Florida State University. His most popular works include his book, Calling a Wolf a Wolf, and a chapbook, Portrait of the Alcoholic. Both were published in 2017. His honors and distinctions include the Lucille Medwick Memorial Award from the Poetry Society of America, a Pushcart Prize, and a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation. He also founded the poetry interview website Divedapper.com and currently teaches as Purdue University.
