Power Poetry is a free platform for young poets. We believe poetry is powerful, and we believe the people who write it deserve to understand exactly what happens with their information. Power Poetry is operated by Power Poetry, Inc., a U.S.-based nonprofit. Our site is at powerpoetry.org. We host the site on servers in the United States and use third-party services described below.
Power Poetry is designed for poets ages 13 and up. If you are under 13, please don't create an account. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete it. Parents and guardians who believe a child under 13 has given us information can email us and we'll remove it.
When you sign up and use Power Poetry, we collect:
The Poetry Genome and AI Feedback features send your poem text to Anthropic's Claude API so it can generate analysis and suggestions. Anthropic does not train its models on API traffic. We cache the results so we don't have to re-send your poem every time. You can read more about Anthropic's data practices at anthropic.com/privacy.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the site:

When you publish a poem on Power Poetry, it is visible to anyone on the internet unless you mark it as private. Search engines may index public poems. If you delete a poem, it is removed from the site, but cached copies may persist elsewhere for a time.

We use cookies for essential things like keeping you logged in, and for analytics so we can understand how the site is used. You can disable cookies in your browser but some parts of the site won't work properly without them.
We use HTTPS everywhere, hash passwords with bcrypt, rate-limit sensitive endpoints, and patch our servers regularly. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to keep your data safe.
