Twelve hours away
Five hundred miles north
Your day to my night
Still I hear your voice
Your fragrance lingers behind every corner
Afraid to sleep
Knowing what lies in my slumber
Memory after memory
Trapped in my head
As thoughts of us surround
Tightening by the day
Room after room of baggage
Sitting unanswered
Looking out to the sky
Pray for better days
Only to find darkness
Mirroring my soul
Days passing in gray
Searching for the color again
So I lay in my chamber
Waiting
Waiting for what?

Every word in this poem is an extremely important component of the story you are trying to tell, and the reader can really understand your searching and confusion. My favorite lines are "Days passing in gray / Searching for the color again" because this gives such a vivid image and is full of emotion.
