i look at the stars.

they stare right back

and forget to blink.

light comes from them

because they are happy

to watch over you.

they smile and wave

but you don’t see

their adoration for you.

but i do.

because i, too, am happy

to watch over you,

to experience you,

to exist alongside you.

and though you aren’t

a star,

you sure do

shine like one.
