A beacon of light shone in my heart From a place that has been dark and cold My prayers have been answered As were my dreams that were far too bold The one I’ve hoped for That I wished would be mine Is finally within my grasp After so many seconds in time To hold me in his arms And kiss me on my cheek The one thing I’ve always wanted Has finally managed to speak He’ll kiss me again and again And never get bored But when I bring the future up He is completely torn He starts to push away And release the arms that hold me Turning his head away As he tries not to see The tears he brings Through his atrocious ways As he uses me all the time Then simply throws me away He barely sees What pain he’s caused Down deep inside me As I put my emotions on pause I can’t help but cry When no one is around He doesn’t even know me When I don’t make a sound He doesn’t watn me forever Even though he needs me He may not realize it yet But no longer is he happy He doesn’t see what she had done How she tore his world apart And stepped on all the little pieces Without a thought for his heart He’s changed from the boy he was Now a man, he sees shorter Only his desires are considered And he has much to offer Only sometimes it won’t be given Nothing more or less, as it will always be I will have to live with my splintered hopes And continue to be miserably happy
