The sun is molten gold,

melting from the sky

into the earth

drip, drip, drip

My skin is burning

and peeling

and burning again

sizzzzzzzle

You would think that the sun

could take a break

from time to time

persistence

Even the crickets

don’t have it in them

to chirp anymore

chirp… … …

I am glad that your young eyes are stars

we could not survive

without the suns in the sea
