Tears cut rivers

slicing ribbons

of pain down my face

Dripping, Dripping

like molten lead

the feeling of heaviness leaving my soul

as it opens up in silent scream.

The moisture collects

in dark pools of dread

As memories accumulate

like dust, suffocating

choking oxygen out of my lungs.

My body is made up of layers

Light powder of snow

incasing my being

soft to the touch

but misleading

For underneath is ice

solid and cold,

bending light away

unseeing.

Then the darkness of secrets

twisting and swirling through my blood

turning it deep purple, dark onyx

The bedrock is the deepest point.

But you with your warmth and your chisel

carved your way down

down to my deepest, innermost level

down to my core

And you cracked me

split me open at the base of my spine

You tried to find the hidden gems inside

to polish them, to refine them

But little did you know

that I am made of ice and coal and stone

and the world sees no beauty in that

and neither did you.
