Sweet 18

You made my youth bloom into fresh honeysuckle

Showed the purity of kisses, laughter, and loss

What envy and love did to some that made soil dry and roses rot

What patience and compassion did to the sunflowers that bloomed

And the sunshine that warmed the soul

Of the other curious youths who made the age of 17 a crossroads

You made time real when the clock struck 12

And you made life more powerful and impactful than what it was before.
