12 Years

12 years of hate
12 years of death
12 years of suffering
12 years of prejudice

In the eyes of many
They were not even human
Not worthy of rights
Not worthy of privileges

Newspapers, book, and pictures
All to deface and disgrace
There to dehumanize
There to discriminate

12 years of hate
12 years of death
12 years of suffering
12 years of prejudice

Divided from others
Businesses closed down
Restriction of freedom
Restriction of rights

Legal, economic, and social rights
All taken away
Anyone different discriminated
Anyone different taken away

12 years of hate
12 years of death
12 years of suffering
12 years of prejudice

Millions separated from life
Jews, Gypsies, disabled, and mentally challenged
All taken to meet their fate
All taken forever

Non-Aryans in camps
Working and dying
There for experimentation
There for death

12 years of hate
12 years of death
12 years of suffering
12 years of prejudice

Auschwitz, Flossenburg, Majdanek
Places of depression and suffering
For forced labor
For annihilation

Many marching toward the end
The unthinkable being done
Ignorance among many
Ignorance among the world

12 years of hate
12 years of death
12 years of suffering
12 years of prejudice

As innocent beliefs
Are taken as arrests
Trapped in a prison
Trapped in a dark pit of despair

Violence, prejudice, and discrimination
Unbelievable in the human eye
Never ending pain
Never ending trauma

12 years of hate
12 years of death
12 years of suffering
12 years of prejudice
