13
13
Little kids think that being 13
Must be the most awesome, coolest thing.
But they soon learn that it's an awkward age,
It's not a musical, just a stage.
We've got braces on our teeth, and bands attached to that.
We're always worried 'bout how we look, wondering if we're fat.
All the girls compare their hair.
Boys don't seem to know how to share.
All we hear in history class is how messed up the world is.
It'll be up to us the teens, to deal with that
Being thirteen is up in the air.
You're unsure of life; you don't really care.
Being 13 is like taking a spring.
Say goodbye to playdates and rusty swings.
You have to think about what's to come.
What path do you take?
What's the 411?
Being 13 is like taking a dare.
You could win, be strong, or not try and be scared.
The real issue with being 13
Are the magazines with the beautiful teens.
Nobody's sure what to say or do.
At school, who rules? What's really true?
I sure am glad I'm not a kid anymore.
But now I've got my little brother knocking at my door.
It won't be long and then I'll be fourteen.
I'm sure I won't be ready for the grown-up scene.
All the girls discover love.
The very thing boys wanna get rid of.
All we hear at school and at home is how hard the world is.
It'll be up to us the teens to deal with that.
Being thirteen is up in the air
You're unsure of life; you don't really care.
Being 13 is like taking a spring.
Say goodbye to playdates and rusty swings
You have to think about what's to come.
What path do you take?
What's the 411?
Being 13 is like taking a dare.
You could win, be strong, or not try and be scared.
Oh, we're scared of what's to come.
Oh, I'll stare down the sun.
Oh my gosh, how does time fly?
Oh, we're flawed, but so am I.
Being thirteen is up in the air
You're unsure of life; you find out you're scared.
Being 13 is like taking a spring.
Just let your heart out, don't worry, and sing.
You have to think about what's to come.
The future is yours.
Your life has begun.
Being 13 is like taking a dare.
You could win, be strong, but hey there's time to spare.
