In a time where skin color was everything

White versus fear and the fear controlled everything.

Abolition of slavery caused the amplification

Of a future ENTIRELY based on discrimination.

Yick Wo versus San Fran 

Denied equal protection under the 14th amendment

All based off of his immediate descendants.

What's the point of a land of opportunity

If the land itself created such a community.

The land of the free and the home of the brave

Not free to all but a home it was made to those

Who could not live as free 

But provided for the futures of you and me.

Escobedo versus Illinois 

The feds had no evidence then denied an attorney

The 5th plus one could only equal the 6th

Amendment violated by the higher power.

Respect for the law Respect for the law

It was said and said again to have Respect for the law

But the same people who preached about Respect for the law

Instilled mass incarceration which embodied a flaw.

The land of the free and the home of the brave

Shot and killed for nothing.

Neighborhood watch only had one job

He was shot and killed for no thing.

Burning the flag and the cross

All for the sake of feedback

The measures that people need to take 

To make a difference in society is a shame.

And all the government plans to do 

Is use their legislation to take aim.

Take aim at the people who built this country

Take aim at their children too.

At the end of the day to all lives matter

If nobody says black lives do.
