Columbus sailed the ocean blue

The Spanish came to the new land
And chop came off the Arawak's hands

And the people who first offered maize
Were captured and turned into slaves

Later after “Witch!” the girls feigned
From the gallows the women were hanged

In Haiti during 1804
The French were killed to settle the score

The Armenians marched for hundreds of miles
While the Ottomans killed them in single file

In the Soviet Union did Holodomor
Leave over 3 million dead on the floor

And then the Holocaust
In the fire so many did become lost

Then we said not again, but in 1975
2 million Cambodians they did die

Then Rwanda in 1994
We did see blood flow once more

They say those who don’t know history
Are doomed to repeat it
But I say it is not those who don’t know history
Instead, it is those who don’t learn from it
