17 dead

Thoughts and prayers.

All anyone can really say when an orphan boy pulls a gun out at a school.

17 dead in my home state.

17 dead in my environment.

The next day my teacher bought a bookbag with a bulletproof backing for his daughter.

A few days after that my teacher told us she was here for us to hold our hands when the fire alarm goes off.

I was not a member of this school,

I didn't know anyone there.

So do I have the right to be scared?

The world we live in is dark and dastardly, but if that was all it was, would anyone be kind?

Would anyone find a reason to smile?

I don't know the solution,

It seems no one does, in truth.
