Can’t we just pretend

There’s romance in the degradation?

Slowdance amongst the radiation

Make a home from the devastation

Sing pseudo-love songs under the acid mist

Of course there’s no redemption here

That’s what makes it real

Polyethylene guilds our sepulcher

So we know it’ll last forever

If we’d all tried a little harder

- embraced the sun and sacrifice -

Maybe we could’ve too

Of course there’s no redemption here

That’s what fuels the fear

You know, it’s too bad the experts were right

Too bad the tides continue to rise

Too bad the pretty birds continue to die

I’ve been realizing how much  I miss the beach

Too bad that water would melt my teeth

Of course there’s no redemption here

That’s what creates the tears
