18 . . . .

1/22/14
3 phases passed before I drizzled wax on the craters of the moon
It took 4 seasons for the wax to harden &
5 more for the wick to burn
6 pairs of hands fumble with my future
& 7 stars for me to wish on
8 nights murmured prayer
9 syllables for repentance , forgiveness & gratitude
10 breathes taken at the door
11 steps for me to trip over
12 strands of hair pulled
13 curse words recited for the hell of it
14 fragmented bones
15 hiccups
16 miles per hour
17 10pm curfews
18 inscriptions on my diploma .

I'm still not ready
