She could only love in the abstract 

Go on and on about the halcyon days

The musicality of the universe 

And why nothing gold ever stays 

 

But holding down a job didn’t really click 

And remembering birthdays never seemed to stick 

And maybe  I’m just being a dick 

But can’t she pay for dinner every once in a while
