The 21st Century

This day and age we are told to be something we're not

That if we don't become that thing we should just sit in a corner and rot

We are to do exactly what we are told and become nothing more than a robot

That we should just go with the flow and follow the same old plot

But then society contradicts that statement with another

"You can be who you want to be and you can love whoever.

You can do what makes you happy, if you hurt soemone else, it doesn't matter."

This twenty-first century is broken and twisted beyond measure.

What can we do but just sit around and watch this world collapse

Remain in our jobs, our homes, and inside of our class.

I mean, who are we to change the made up minds of the mass

Crowds of people who would like to pull us in their traps.

Gay today

And Lesbian to follow

Stay afraid

Sit down and wollow

Racism and violence

Society attempts to silence

School shootings and crimes

Seem to happen all the time.

So still the main question of today still remains

Who are we to make a difference; to make a change

We, we are a strong and powerful and people

But we can't do it alone, we need the help of all

We need strangers, family and all of our friends

We need help for this world that we must defend

So I say to all of you, you can make a difference

You can hear where you are needed, you just have to listen.
