23

And just like that I woke up and I was 23.

It happened so fast.

It was almost in the blink of an eye that I had changed.

Adults would always tell me to be careful about what I wished for but I didn't listen.

" I can't wait 'til i grow up."

I was convinced that being an adult would be so much easier than being a child;

A child that is fed and clothed free of charge!

What the hell was I thinking when I said that?

" No one can tell me what to do, what to say, or  what to eat.

I'm gonna do things my own way."

Were those my only worries then?

Damn Whitney, You really had it hard.

If I could go back in time, I would tell my younger self to enjoy the moment.

Breathe deep.

Make mistakes.

Finish what you started and be brave.

Just don't dye your hair because it's going to fall out.

I was so busy trying to rush those precious moments that I didn't have time to live in them.

My younger self had so many things to learn.

I wasn't ready to grow up.

I'm still not ready but time waits for no woman.

I am proud of the person that I am becoming

and I'm okay with learning to embrace my journey,

but I wouldn't complain about going back a few more years.

Appreciate your childhood,

teen years,

and early adulthood.

Before you know it, you'll be 23

just like me.
