I hope the world forgets the way I once was. A compulsive liar. Drowning in self-hate. Bossy and lost. I hope no one remembers my falling-down pants, Because of my six-size range from summer to winter So nothing really fits. I want memories to erase- Of writhing agony on bus rides, Scabs covering my back and face, And sleeping in the middle of class. Who am I perceived to be? Have I lost my kindness? Do you see courage or hate? Unashamedly myself is so easily seen as wild. Remember my laughter. Dancing, smiling, caring too much. Don't forget my growth. My transformation. Pack away an image of my bright blue hair. Promise me you'll see me as who I've become And who I'm trying to be.

Hi! My name is Elizabeth Davenport, and I'm a college student who loves all things language, no matter what language it is! I'm probably reading, writing, or dancing in the rain right now. I'm a featured poet, Aura, on diesandnoctis.com (go check them out: they're great!), and use the names E.D., Elie Dav, and Elizabeth Davenport when posting my own.
