294

It happened in August.

294, it read.

I blink,

my eyes needing to focus.

The numbers don’t budge.

My heart drops

easily into my stomach.

I feel sick.

The scale says something

I do not feel.

The scale says something

I do not believe

The scale says something

I do not wish to know.

But now I do.

So what do I do?

I begin to work out.

I begin to eat better,

Healthier,

Start to sweat.

And it feels so good.

I say goodbye to 294,

leaving it alone that month.

And I say hello to a new me.
