2am Town

Sat, 12/07/2019 - 20:17 -- A Finch

A pair of strangers yesterday

Turned lovers overnight.

And neither could say

How it went that way

But to them that was alright.

Maybe their dance,

Maybe her smile,

Maybe just chance

Or vanilla romance

Bid them stay awhile.

They talked in bed till two

By the light of cigarettes.

By three o clock they knew

All the things they’d never do

And all their shared regrets.

At dawn her eyes met his

"Goodbye" she whispered through a kiss

As though they’d never met.
