3 AM


I quietly lit a cigarette-
the terrible ideas always win
because they can.
tempered glass breaks the ice. 
 I contemplated picking up the pieces...
              but it was a beautiful night... 
I was lost in a song from another time, 
and the moonlight is my tireless companion... 
 
then... 
... love closed her eyes-and...
I pretended nothing mattered. traces of you were no longer 
... amid the  blackened smoke. 
“I'll be better tomorrow....”
and the wind laughed in my face.
