3rd and Goal

                                               3rd and Goal

                                            By: Paige Jackson

Letting someone in is a dangerous game.

You’re 3rd and goal, almost there!

Running and running but then you stop.

You stop because if you actually believe this person is the one, the one who truly believes in you

The one who will carry you?

The one friend you can actually trust?

You run and you run but then you stop because healthy relationships are a dangerous game.

You’re afraid somebody else might cause you pain

1st down you’re almost there!

Your legs snap beneath you.

You lie on the ground nobody comes.

You lie on the ground as people pummel over you.

You lie on the ground because you’re afraid if somebody lifts you up you’ll end up hurt?

You lie on the ground feeling as though you’re being kicked into the dirt?

Stop looking for a friendly face; it’s all about the chase.

Touchdown!

You look out into the stands.

Everybody calls your name but face is all it takes.

You are not scared anymore.

You are not weak.

You are not fragile, because you have people.

You have people.

You have a mom and a dad and that person who damaged you, that person who tore you down, that person who told you that you couldn’t do it?

Never saw you make that touchdown.

Never saw the fans cheer you on.

Never saw you.

Never saw you at all.
