4 is 4

5 by 5 in rows and rows

4 by 4 and 3 by those.

3 is 3 and 4 is 4

And 4's not 5

We can't have more.

This is what the line up knows

That ten is ten

And twenty, twenty

Ten's too small

And 4 is plenty

3 is 3 and 2 is 2,

1 is 1 and 1 is you.

5 in rows and 8 in squares,

3 triangles, 4 in pairs,

Why they do it, what they do?

You're not four, they won't tell you.

4 is laughing, 4 is 4,

4's not five, they can't have more.

Ten is full and eight is too,

1 is one and one is you.

1 can't join or make the rows.

Why is 1? Well, no one knows.

4 is 4 but who can say

Who decided it that way?

Maybe they will understand.

Go and ask the ones who stand

Why they line up in a row.

They won't tell you.

They don't know.
