4 Letters, 3 Words

I saw him in the midst of those White, siddity, and ivy league fellas There he stood Bright, black, and bold....and lookin GOOD! You know the feeling...when you walk by a store & finally see that thing you've been looking for? You know it's yours you can feel it... Yeah...that's the feeling. I once dreamt of somebody like him when I was in high school... I knew that in the future when I was stable And able I would do all in my power to be near him. He carries himself, head held high Relentless and fierce with his fist in the sky. Even when the odds are against him.. To self, he stays true. His beauty, Built on the foundation of struggle & uncertainty The strength he's gained through the doubts of the enemy As I gaze in his weary but righteous eyes I see ...........Me. He marched in the band, talks music with a smile Ran track, played baseball He has it all. Scholar athlete, Deans list You get the gist... The only one that I can relate to Grounded in the same beliefs Our minds walk the same...they talk the same Our feet run the same path, we dream the same He is me...and I, him...it seems. Both our friends & foes Hate us both for the colors we show.. But so long as he remains true.. I'll always support him He's gone so far as to educate me.. Molding me, shaping me I'm indebted to him for graciously Loving me unconditionally. Though I wasn't the smartest chick he's ever met He accepted me. Saw my hunger for success And he fed me. He doesn't know, that I'm feelin him so Though I try my best to let my loyalty show. I know I don't say it much to him and seldom express Those four letters that he represents. And as the time has come.. I gotta leave him real soon. Just wanted to share my thoughts of my man with you. I'll never forget him.....I'll be dreaming of him too.. I'm in love... with my H-B-C-U.
