4 years

I woke up from a memory

A haunting nightmare that still sits on my mind

Like a bird clinging to its perch.

I woke up with imaginary bruises

In every place I can remember your painful touch

My skin still burning,

Crawling at your ghostly presence.

I woke up with fresh tears brimming my eyes

And with tears dried on my cheeks.

4 years later and sometimes the pain still feels only 4 minutes old.

I woke up and suddenly-

I was 14 again.

Scared to go to school and see you

Flinching at your every move.

I woke up hating myself,

Resenting myself,

Despising who I am.

I could still feel you on top of me.

4 years later and your claws still leave new scratch marks,

Right over the old scars.

I woke up still living in the pain

Of 4 years ago.
