5 Months of Midnight

What is day

When all you know is night

Shadows are invisible

darkness becomes light

My eyes need not adjust

This state will never change

There's always 5 months of midnight

Always 5 months of pain

Shining memories of the sun

Dull with every passing day

'Til the sun seems more like the moon

A crater filled monotonous grey

Endless sky

And stars are trapped within

As small beacons of hope

That we will see light again

Until then we sit and wait

And wish with all our might

That star light star bright

Will be the sun one night
