500 Miles
They tell me you are dying,
that soon you'll slip away.
But how could i believe
these words that strangers say.
They say that your heart falters,
And you are 500 miles away.
But i know you wouldn't leave me
on such a lovely day.
There's no way you could be dying
from 500 miles away.
For here the breezes blow,
the trees, they dance and sway.
They tell me soon you'll go,
and that i should come today.
But i know you wouldn't leave me
with so many words to say.
500 miles of road i drove
to the bedside where you lay.
I kissed you on the cheek,
and i closed my eyes to pray.
They tell me you are dying,
but I'm begging you to stay.
I know that your are hurting,
but don't leave me here today.
They tell me you are dying...
I love you more than words can say.
I know that your are tired,
and that you must go on your way.
I have loved your love so deeply.
I will miss you every day.
Until I meet you on this road,
maybe 500 miles away...
