58 Years Later
It's a hard fought beginning.
Reaching, teaching, and preaching,
We're working to survive.
It's not about the trivial things.
It's not even about us.
We don't stand in the belly of hate for ourselves.
No, Lord.
It's easy to step aside,
and easy to abide
even if it's not fair.
But is this what Mama wanted for us?
Is this what we want for our own?
No, Lord.
So we stand in the snake pit.
Hand in hand and heart to heart.
We sing 'A Change is Gonna Come'.
And we know it will.
It's a hard fought beginning 58 years later.
Reaching, teaching, and preaching.
We're changing things everyday.
We work for each other.
We don't step down.
We won't let them turn us around.
No, Lord.
You see,
We've learned from the best.
We know what can we done,
and we won't stop until we've won.
58 years later we know 'A Change is Gonna Come'.
