"The 6 Steps to High School Senior Survival"
"The 6 Steps to High School Senior Survival”
By: Avianna “Ivy” Hogue
It’s day one of your last day of school,
Your palms are sweaty, your heart is racing, and you’re doing everything in your power to look cool,
As you’re anxiously waiting to receive your class schedule, id, parking passes,
There are a million thoughts running through your mind; “Will I make new friends?” or “Will I like any of my classes?”
Although you’ve repeated these first day steps, time and time again,
You still secretly struggle with acceptance and genuinely wanting to fit in,
Allow me, to outline a few key steps for you to remember,
And if followed correctly; you’ll feel as if every day is a sweet December,
Step 1: Follow your heart, and seek purpose daily,
Step 2: Trust in the higher plan, and stop being shady,
Step 3: Know that your perception is your reality,
Step 4: Empower yourself with institutional knowledge instead of the latest gossip or “tea”
Step 5: Remember in life you can either have one day, or day one,
Step 6: The sooner you start with a positive mindset, the closer you are to being done.
