7

Seven used to be my favorite number

Now it haunts me

Seventy-seven.

Seventy-seven cents on the dollar.

I am consumed by it.

Seventy-seven shows me no mercy,

Anytime that I think I might be good enough

Whenever I believe I can make it,

Seventy-seven smacks me back into reality.

Am I not good enough because of my gender?

I just want to see seven and not think of

The inequalities in the world.

Please give me my favorite number back.
