7 Deadly Sins
My faith is all I have, all I'll need
but why do I question what brings me glee?
The sounds of thoughts zooming around awake,
the guilt and wrath I cannot shake.
Trapped in a battle with God and time.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart"
but I flinch, I quiver with greed,
due to the habits that hither me.
My love for God so strong but my gluttony still eats
and I become more and more like a sloth.
Lust and pride tie me up and force me to take a long hard look.
At the trust behind my mask,
the truth that I always fail against my flesh.
"God help me, I'm drowning" I scream.
The reality crashes down on me,
I turned my back on the raft he sent.
Lies and envy clutter my layer of secrets.
Can't seem to muster the courage to admit,
admit I need to give up my way of life
Comfort is the cloack I dawn,
only I choose to take it off and on.
Escaping the prison I've built myself will be daring.
If only I never with the 7 deadly sins.
