'70s Heartbreak
Poor Gus died of a broken heart;
He threw it hard when Jane didn’t show.
It hit the ground and broke apart,
It’s all because she caught sight of Joe.
It was Nineteen seventy-five,
When the afro was very hip.
At this time, Gus was still alive,
On the block, he was called “the Chip.”
He traveled the world, far and wide.
He partied late almost every night,
Searching for a pretty bride
Who would shine in the disco light.
Poor Gus died of a broken heart;
He threw it hard when Jane didn’t show.
It hit the ground and broke apart,
It’s all because she caught sight of Joe.
Lucky for him, Gus soon met Jane.
She was a wild chick with luscious hair.
In fact, he first fell for her mane!
Together, they made a lovely pair.
“Darling, how about if we hitch?
I love you, baby! Please say ‘I do!’”
“I do!” Jane cried a gleeful pitch.
“I’ll be here, Jane, exactly at two.”
Poor Gus died of a broken heart;
He threw it hard when Jane didn’t show.
It hit the ground and broke apart,
It’s all because she caught sight of Joe.
The cute lovebirds then parted ways,
But after three yards, Jane met her ex.
He asked her for a few more days,
To prove the union would be a vex.
“Foxy Mama, let’s flee the scene!
He isn’t that great, just like his ‘fro.
Pretty Jane, you’re my dancing queen.
You don’t need Gus, just cool hunky Joe!”
Poor Gus died of a broken heart;
He threw it hard when Jane didn’t show.
It hit the ground and broke apart,
It’s all because she caught sight of Joe.
