A Silent Witness
On and off again
Every twelve hours
The view comes and goes
Night and Day.
Touching everything
A silent bystander
To the toils of men
I am the sun, high above
Witness to struggles
To men trudging below
And progress through the ages
From baby to adult
Witness to battles below
Above sitting silent
Knowledge overflowing
No way to share
Watching brothers and sisters
Down far below
Make the same mistakes
As those before
Sacrificing it all
When a solution,
Peaceful and Calm
Was in reach
Witness to struggle
Rifle and cannon shot
Mountains of bodies
Knowledge overflowing
Listening to the screams
Lost among others
Watching them end
One with the others
Witness to pain
To brothers killing brothers
Friends turned on friends
Connections lost
Sitting high above
Sitting on knowledge
Of decades and centuries
A Witness to the wars
