a soldier in the night
In the night a soft sound jolts awake soldiers
A feeling of dread in everyone, no sleep will happen
For a trench must be dug and machine guns placed
no mans land filled with the dead
BOOM! grenades thrown machine guns fired
people running not even making it past halfway
many soldiers lost in time frozen at the sound
Planes, HISS, gas the sound of shouting
Drowned men by my side gasping, trying
My fogged mask hard to see them
Its better that way, nothing to see as i run
No way to see the men by my sidee slowly drowning
Dirt in my eyes as i crouch at the trenches
No mans land filled with soldiers from both sides
Hard to see anything dust everywhere
men everywhere
