A Strange Life

What a strange life it is, leaving nothing behind. No wife or no love to be buried beside. No home to be willed, with old memories inside. No kids with my name, my blood, or my eyes. I wonder if this life was just a bad ride. Was it me? Am I broken? Because I know that I tried. All the years being lonely, all the tears that I've cried. All the times I was quiet and swallowed my pride. Hopeful that someone would stay by my side. A reason to breathe, a little peace of mind. But fate wouldn't have it, they say life is unkind. And what a strange life it is, leaving nothing behind.
