Abandoned

Chipped paint surrounds an unkempt house

untouched grass slowly sways in the chilling wind

dark silence of night surrounds me.

The faded red door creeks open as I

step into a dense heat suffocating my lungs.

Empty furniture and portraits paint the room,

a story once told

is left behind.

Masked by thick layers of dust and cobwebs hiding their inner splendor

water from a rusty faucet slowly drips towards the ground

seeping into the disintegrating wooden floor

leaving a musty odor in the air

painted sunlight fills the room as it makes its way towards the sky

it reveals one more hidden secret.
