Abandoned

I give myself condolences

For losing someone I loved

Because the kids are smoking hate

A common, discurteous drug.

I never meant to cut so deep

As to hurt the only one there.

But I find myself hurting anyway

Because no one else will care.

The curve broke and the drum noise galore

Beat so wrongly in my chest

For in these desks

The walls and weight, they all define my fate.

I wait along the shiny dock

Because 17 is just a number

And love is forever.

And I’ll wait forever more

In the rainy downpour

Under an umbrella made of cheap plastic

On the sidewalk with signs of abandonment that read

Death and Death.
