An abandoned friend

For years I have searched for my inspiration,

but the journey seemed to be endless

One would suggest to watch motivational videos,

but the motivational feeling was only temporary

It wasn’t until I was put in an uncomfortable position

That I learned what it truly meant to be inspired

When i became single,

Everything became clear

That empty feeling I had was due to leaving an old friend behind

Being single made me uncomfortable and scared

But those feelings were my best teachers

I couldn't find inspiration in other things because

I needed to find it within myself

Because who was going to get myself out of bed? Me

Because who fought silent battles and turned out alright? Me

Because who will always be there when I need it the most? Me

This poem is really personal to me because 2019 was the year of me realizing stuff. I hope this helps someone that needs help fighing silent battles.
