Abbey

Dear perfect soul,

I saw you that day

Just sitting there

Concentrating so very deeply

Interested in every word they were saying

You were good at that

Listening

Without judgement

Giving the best advice

I was always jealous of that

But not just that

But you

You were a perfect soul

Your smile used to be infectious

Illuminating everything you touched

It spread like floodwaters

Seeping into everything and everyone

A sensation of joy you brought

Filling the room with laughter

Purity gleaming through your eyes

An aura of life

You were always there

Always

But that day you disappeared

Gone in a flash of light

That day you were no more

You took the joy with you

The floodwaters became poison

Painfully killing those you’d touched

You killed me

But I still love you
