About Braces

she bites her lip,

runs her tongue along her

gums,

cuts her tongue,

'cause she's nervous like

systems/solar/energy

radiating

within her wire-tooth jail;

her words are held

captive

like the audience

as it waits

for the iron bars

to be removed

(eighteen days till

her sentence is over,

but who's counting?).
